{"id":109,"date":"2014-01-23T20:45:59","date_gmt":"2014-01-23T16:45:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/zxstudio.org\/blog\/?p=109"},"modified":"2015-04-13T11:01:46","modified_gmt":"2015-04-13T07:01:46","slug":"assault-horizon-open-implementation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/zxstudio.org\/blog\/2014\/01\/23\/assault-horizon-open-implementation\/","title":{"rendered":"Assault Horizon open implementation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I decided to write an open source implementation of <a title=\"Ace Combat: Assault Horizon\" href=\"http:\/\/acecombat.wikia.com\/wiki\/Ace_Combat:_Assault_Horizon\" target=\"_blank\">Ace Combat: Assault Horizon<\/a>\u2018s render and flight model.<\/p>\n<p>So far, my goal is to write an open platform for further gameplay experiments.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/zxstudio.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ace_combat_assault_horizon.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-114 \" style=\"margin-top: 5px;\" src=\"http:\/\/zxstudio.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ace_combat_assault_horizon.jpg\" alt=\"ace_combat_assault_horizon\" width=\"478\" height=\"269\" srcset=\"http:\/\/zxstudio.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ace_combat_assault_horizon.jpg 640w, http:\/\/zxstudio.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ace_combat_assault_horizon-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 478px) 100vw, 478px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I love Ace Combat series and want to be able to play it in the way I want.\u00a0And I want to see the guts: solving mystery\u00a0of how does it work will be my special pleasure in this project.\u00a0I\u2019m using PC version\u2019s resources in development.<\/p>\n<p>In short, the plan is:<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Phase one:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Initial game resources\u2019 data structure research<\/li>\n<li>Basic renderer, to allow visual testing of flight model<\/li>\n<li>Flight model reconstruction, with aim to get it as close as possible to the original game<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After this phase, prospects of the project will be much clearer.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Phase two:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Clean code rewrite under MIT license<\/li>\n<li>Further resources\u2019 formats research<\/li>\n<li>Advanced renderer, attempt to recreate original AH\u2019s eye-candy graphics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As long as I will not provide original AH resources in my releases and will not use disassembly\u00a0to get original algorithms, I hope it will not violate original game creator\u2019s license.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I decided to write an open source implementation of Ace Combat: Assault Horizon\u2018s render and flight model.
